Who I work with

My clients include C-level executives, tax directors and procurement/purchasing managers of companies that engage in import and export activities. These activities often include the sourcing of tangible goods from overseas, such as raw materials, intermediate products, parts, components, chemicals and finished goods. I serve both international and domestic organizations across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, machinery, life sciences, automotive, aerospace, e-commerce and consumer products.

My specialty

I specialize in helping multinational companies navigate complex US import/export requirements, providing duty-saving strategies, planning and compliance risk management. With a decade of experience on both the consulting and the legal sides of international trade, I also provide counsel on customs enforcement matters, such as customs inquiries, verification requests, audits, investigations and penalty cases. Since many of my clients are located overseas, I am always on standby and manage ongoing customs matters on their behalf while keeping them updated on the status of their cases.

Results I have delivered

  • I helped an industrial smart-devices importer release goods valued at over $3 million that were detained by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for intellectual property rights issues.
  • I helped an importer obtain approval from CBP headquarters for a specific manufacturing duty drawback program ─ one of the hardest to obtain ─ which allowed them to recoup over $2 million in annual duties.
  • I helped a small shoe importer obtain preferential duty rates for their imported products under the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB), saving over $600,000 in duties during the MTB period.

Unique things about me

I was born in South Korea and one of my passions is cooking Korean food, especially kimchi (using my family’s secret recipe!).

I enjoy practicing yoga, playing golf, going hiking and swimming. I also love to travel; some of my favorite destinations include Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City and Sapporo.
