Who I work with
I work with nonprofits of all sizes and organizations with federal grants. Many of these organizations seek professional knowledge when faced with a Single Audit to comply with the Uniform Guidance, which is the government’s framework for grant management.
My specialty
I specialize in nonprofit audits and financial reporting, Uniform Guidance compliance and Single Audits. I am also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and utilize my experience to bring suggestions for internal controls best practices to my clients.
Results I have delivered
In one year, I helped over 17 for-profit and nonprofit clients learn how to develop better internal controls in compliance with the Uniform Guidance and over 15 clients learn how to establish better internal controls for nonprofit GAAP. I help my clients stand behind their numbers and bring valued understanding to my client service approach.
Unique things about me
I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a focus on sculpture from the University of Georgia. I did bronze casting as my main medium, which I first learned while spending a semester abroad in Cortona, Italy (I also loved printmaking!). Now I enjoy photography, including still-life, portrait, travel and animal photography.
I have a soft spot for animals and wildlife and volunteer as Treasurer for Second Chance Wildlife Association — I even lend a hand feeding the baby animals and doing their dishes (orphaned and injured wildlife go through a lot of dishes)!
When I am not at work
I enjoy traveling and have been to Italy, France, Grenada, Mexico, India, Thailand, England, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Germany, Denmark and Costa Rica. I also like to rent lake cottages with my wife in Indiana, which is where her family lives. I always try to plan my travels around what animals I may get to meet in the areas I visit!
